DLR Downloads - Campaign: Reign Of Death
About the Campaign
Three years ago a revolt against Sirian rule within the Citadel of Mortuus by some of it's undead inhabitants led to the return of Lord Bane to his former home. In mere weeks he had ruthlessly eliminated all traces of humanity from within Mortuus and in mere months from the whole of the Realm of Death. Having sealed the entrance to Mortuus, turning it into a huge trap for the Sirian counter-attack and destroying most of their knights before they ever saw battle he then sent his army through a secret passage; the very same passage he had used to enter the Citadel and with the aid of Lord Delermat and Lady Ehyrynth: two of his Deathbringers that had somehow managed to survive the Sirian conquest 50 years ago he slaughtered the armies of the living.
Having 'liberated' his former domain from Sirian and High Elf rule Lord Bane quickly swept into the Northern Tundra and extended his dominion. The long-lived High Elves that call that land their home , still nursing the psychological, cultural, religious, political and above all demographic wounds inflicted by their conquest by Lord Bane 54 years hence were crushed despite the extensive aid of the Sirians.
Then Lord Bane proceeded to destroy Silvermyr and Selentia before conquering Wizard's Isle from a secret base that he had already set up on the Isle of the Beast and it was from Wizard's Isle that he invaded Agaria, aided by the Staff of Selentia; an item stolen from the Imperial crypt of that now ruined nation. In a terrible war the Knightly orders were destroyed one by one; their peoples enslaved and decimated.
Lord Albion and his family were thus finally slain, their souls cruelly trapped within an item taken from the wizards of Wizard's Isle and suitably corrupted by Lord Bane so that they could be made to endure an eternity of torture at the hands of the Wraiths that he had trapped alongside them.
Twelve years ago; according to the terms of surrender which the remnants of the High Elf nobility had signed with a representative of Lord Bane himself, you and thousands others like you left the shores of the Northern Tundra. Thankfully Lord Bane had been far too busy pursuing his revenge against Lord Albion to be concerned with eliminating each and every High Elf.
The city of Solhaven on the Isle of the Dawn is your new home- though you find the locals of Solhaven- the Silvan Elves to be crude, uncultured and lascivious, your old home is a haunted ruin; lost to you and your people forever. So it was that you had determined to integrate yourself into Solhaven society: though the refugees from Silvermyr appeared to have intergrated far better; a few centuries should be enough even for your people.
But there is no running from Death or from the bigotry of those who are inclined to blame their own problems on any readily available scapegoat. And so it was that the Leugue of Solhaven Purification, known to everyone other than their supporters as the 'Xenophobes' managed to play upon the Solhaven elite's fear of the Moonguard and Iceguard's power to convince Seliel Queen of Solhaven to institute their disarming.
But you are Eysaven commander of the Iceguard and tasked with the defense of your people by Queen Ehlarial herself. To comply and leave your people at the mercy of these Xenophobes would be to betray the spirit of your dead queen. So it was that you marched on the royal palace, put Queen Selial to the sword and threw Solhaven into chaos.
You have no regrets; for neccesity justifies anything.
