The *almost final* "Troll Tournament" (TT) unit list
 
I’m posting these mostly just to show people the changes that are happening and explaining to them why. I am not sure if I should have these units overwrite the current SH units or to simply add a "TT" in front of each name. I think overwriting will work best as, unlike the original makers of the SH units, I will be around to release newer versions as soon as an unbalanced unit rears it’s head (like Rover and Lamia).

Banshee
  • Just added the death class for slayer purposes
Gnome
  • Basically a goblin with 1 lower view but 1 higher hit point didn’t see a need to fiddle with him. Good scout unit.
Rover
  • With out the combat bonus he’s a lot less powerful as a scout. I took away his +6 view so he is now a fast moving archer that adds hills/forest moves to any stack he’s in still making him slightly better than the archer unit for non hero stacks since he adds the move bonuses and has the extra hit. However the archer is better for a cheap archery unit. Basically he is no longer the all in one scout/archer/NHS unit.
Straw Golem
  • Added demon class for slayer ability (other golems are monster class but there’s no monster slayer ability that I know of)
Sylph
  • Turn it into the flying scout unit. Lowered its move to 20 bumped the view to 7. This should balance it out with the goblin/gnome for scouting
Vampire bat
  • No change but for people that don’t already know this unit is a great scout/deterrent unit. It’s the same price as a gnoll yet I see people use gnolls but never see them use vamp bats.

Basilisk
  • The orginal purpose of this unit was to replace the chicken. However because he is under powered and there really is no good paralysis unit I increased his speed to make him more chicken like, lowered his setup and gave him a slayer class.
Boar rider
  • Not sure if anyone uses this unit. He’s supposed to be the Chaos version of the elf cavalry. I increased his movement to make him more attractive. Although he could just be deleted and no one would miss him
Gladiator
  • Personally I think these guys are a little overpowered but I left them alone for this time around
Marksmen
  • Under used mini moonies no change
Outrider
  • Not sure what this unit was supposed to be? The scout kill unit perhaps? So I tinkered.
PegaCentaur
  • Good unit no change needed IMO
Undead Horde
  • Useless unit. Modeled after the plague carriers, good curse unit now and not a bad unit when added to a priest. Made the moves 17 because there are no other 17 move units in the game.

Battering Ram
  • Sorry guys this unit was WAY WAY too good. Slowed it down a tad to make the roc rider and cave wyrm more appealing to the masses.
Black Rider
  • Great unit period
Cyclops
  • Great unit period
Hobgoblin
  • This unit needed some love. Modeled after the Black Rider which is a well used unit at 144 in ally 1 I feel he’s well balanced the giant Still is the best all round chaos unit in ally 1 at 72 points for a 6/3 chaos +2 unit. Weak in the field at 5/3 but great vs cities at 7/3. This could be the cheap chaos unit the Necro/monk was looking for to go with there chaos spells.
Roc Rider
  • Cheaper in setup and faster. Now the only truly fast siege unit.
Sasquatch
  • No change kind of a useless unit good with a priest I suppose, perhaps a drastic change if I make a newer version
Warlock
  • The lighting moonie. Only problem is the moonie has 4 chances to out right kill a dragon and this unit on has a 40% chance to take off half your hit points. Too weak to really be with a hero and at 3 turns you never get enough from ally 1 or regs to be a factor. In Merc you could get enough but the Cyclops and the gnoll cave let alone the moonie dominate that spot. So I made them a 2 turn unit basically a pega centaur with lightning. I can see these in trap cities.

  • The change everyone wanted WEAKER LAMIA that’s the good news. The bad news is she fits in ally 2 now
Leviathan
  • Was useless but now perhaps we will see them. Fits in ally 3 only for right now cheaper than the titan and as it remains a 4 turn unit you will receive more from quests than you would with the titan. Demon slayer is huge now with me now giving most of the units that had no class before the demon class. I suspect this unit could be huge. If during play people find it too big of an advantage I will tone it down to +2 we shall see.
Manticore
  • Another useless unit keeping with my theme for ally 3 slot meat units.
Phoenix
  • Fits in ally 2. Don’t mess with these birds on hills nasty nasty.
Succubus
  • No Change
Titan
  • Fits in ally 3 much like the undead beast. You’ll only get 2 from a quest which I think balances out the 4 hits. Bless this guy is a walking dragon so I thought the 5 turns is warranted. I don’t think we will see him in production but as there are a lot of fodder units out there that are human not to mention elephants this guy can be a beast for any set with out a +1 hit hero.

  • In D&D my orc hero rides a wyvern so I made it’s class orc

Lava Wyrm
  • Tempted to make him 4 hits as I don’t think anyone really uses him right now. However I elected to give him +1 more str vs cities to make him even better to get early for expansion and the extra move bonus doesn’t hurt either. I may make him a 4 hit unit just so you can get 3 of them from a quest rather than 2.
Royal Dragon
  • Same price as the a Blackie now
