TOPIC: Res setting in registry?
Res setting in registry? 12 years, 6 months ago #589
Nasty as it is I have had yet another LCD die. I had to put up my old 19" and again Warlords4 will not come up. KGB said it was set in the registry, but searching for Warlords4 did not locate it. I found lots of entries, but none that looked like res setting?

Vmxa,
You've got to stop buying the cheap stuff Look in "Ubi Soft->Warlords IV->Options' and there you will see the Resolution setting and only the first number has meaning (04 00 00 00 = 1600x1200 for example). You probably missed it because you searched for 'Warlords4' instead of 'Warlords IV'. The key thing to remember is it's under Ubi Soft. KGB |

If only I could, but it was a Samsung, I found the Resolution, but have no clue what value to use. Would 03 be 1440x900? That is the most this monitor will support, till I can get a replacement.
I suspect that I could jut reinstall and get the option to set the res and be fine in a pinch. Thanks KGB, you are the best. |

It is interecting. I wanted to ask KGB to create high resolution/widescreen patch. But probably it is not necessary.
Is it possible to set 1680x1050? |

Unfortunately, War4 was made before widescreen formats became popular in games. So there is no support for Widescreen in War4.
If someone knows or knows how to do widescreen formats in DirectX9 in Windows, I'm more than happy to do a widescreen patch. It may be just as simple as adding case statements to the resolution code that checks for the resolutions below and adds new ones but it may be more than that to make sure things aren't stretched out. In the meantime you are left with: 1600x1200 = 4 1280x1024 = 3 1024x768 = 2 800x600 = 1 So those of you with widescreen will have to select something your monitor can handle (M0d3m you should be able to do 1280x1024 while Vmxa is going to be stuck with 1024x768). Thanks, I can use the 3 for 1280 as I can handle 1440x900. I think I use to run the 1280 when I got this monitor years ago.

Just to not make Samsung look bad, I discovered the monitor was fine. It turns out the boss lady had accidently chnged the source to digital. I had replaced the video card and that did not work. I put the monitor on another pc and that did not work.
I used an old monitor and that worked. Concluded it was the monitor and put it aside. A couple weeks later I drag out the monitor and test it. I had bought a dvi cable in the mean time and was using digital, instead of the old analog vga connector. Now the 24" works as it had been set to digital. So it cost me a new video card and a cable, but those were things I needed anyway. Now I wonder, if the 25" I tossed out a year or so ago was really broken, sigh. |
