TOPIC: DLR Statistics
DLR Statistics 13 years, 1 month ago #131
Work is moving on to the DLR pages and so I thought I'd open a new thread for that.
The other week we kind of decided we'd give the stats pages for the different games a similar look, so here are my suggestions for the DLR pages: K4 Heroes: I suggest we make the headers grey and the tables black, and make the font bigger, just like the HOE and the DLR Units tables. See Wizard table at the bottom of the page. Units: Regular units in black, Stormheim units in red (or blue). And I think we should drop the black header pictures because they don't fit stylewise and because they serve no real purpose. On the Units page these pictures can be replaced by a single line: "Regular units (by SSG) in black, Stormheim units (by Darwin) in red." P.S. The links for the prior stats, and for the k4stats.doc for the K-Heroes is dead. Should I remove the link or should we recreate the page (I have the previous stats on my "mirror" but not the k4stats.doc)? |

Seppuccu,
1) Wizard table looks good to me. The orange was never that pleasant to look at. 2) Regular Units in black and Stormheim in red works for me. 3) Header picture. There is one on the K4 heroes page too. So the one on the units page sort of went thematically with the one on the K4 heroes page. It would be nice to keep it but I realize having one on top of the other doesn't make as much sense as the original side-by-side did. I wonder if it they can be shrunk and edited so that they can be side-by-side again. For that matter I'd love to eventually have such nice header pictures on the War4 pages too. 4) You can delete the prior stats link. It is to the K3 heroes which haven't been used since 2001. I doubt anyone even remembers them anymore. In fact the green coloring should be changed to show the difference between K4 and the original heroes, not the K3 version. Leave the word link for now. I believe I have that document courtesy of Darwin and can upload it. KGB |

I was talking about the header pictures on both pages. It's not a problem to shrink the pictures on the Units page or, even better, make them one single picture. But let me repeat what I said about them before: They don't fit stylewise. Personally I think they look childish. They were ok on a site with silly little animated gif sprites on every page, but not on this one. Warlorders.com has grown up and it should be reflected here too. You're the boss but now at least I've given you my own very personal opinion on it. KGB wrote: 4) You can delete the prior stats link. Done. Seppuccu,

You're the boss but now at least I've given you my own very personal opinion on it. OK, OK. You've convinced me. Your right, they don't really belong any more on the new site. Would still like to have some sort of header though on all the pages (War4/DLR) besides just the larger text at the top. Seppuccu wrote: I don't have the original stats but if you let me know which ones should be changed I can do that too. Let me see if I can find a link to the original stats so you can compare and update. Otherwise I'll do it as there was a fair amount of changes between the original and the final K4. Seppuccu wrote: I'd recommend a pdf, though. Agreed, since not everyone has word installed. I have cutePDF which converts word docs to PDF's so assuming I find the document it will be a snap to covert and post it. KGB |

I'm not quite sure about having both the text headline and a picture headline at the same page, I think either or, and the n preferably consequently on every stats subpage for every game. But let's discuss it, compare suggestions and see what we can make out of it. |

The tables look familiar
I do agree that the black tables are a lot easier to the eye. Not sure if there should be a different colour on every second line as it is in the original tables. (black and dark grey maybe) Having all units in the same list is awesome! At the moment I only have stormheim units available like that. There are however some errors that should be corrected and some additional information that would be great if was included, meaning slayer classes of regular units and the picture of siege engine is gone. Siege is consequently spelled wrong on stormheim units (seige). Elven lords' stats should be something like this: 6 2 3 700 30 3 4 500 woods +1 woods demonslayer ? ? |

Thanks for the feedback. I think we'll stick with the all-black tables to keep things simple and consistent.
I've fixed the spelling error for seige units, which also gave us back the icon for Siege Engines (the file name was misspelled in the script). KGB: the K4 Heroes page is acting up again. Could you do that save thing again? Also I don't know anything about the Elven Lord's stats. |

Saved again. Sorry about that, it was me that had it locked.
We'll fix the actual stats later once you finish the coloring. I didn't realize the SE picture wasn't showing until I saw this. |

Fixed the K4 Heroes tables...and Jesus Christ that was tedious. Can't remember when I last had to work my way through code so full of nonsense. I'll fix the units tables next...as soon as I've recuperated. And I hope to god they'll be easier.

Fixed: DLR Units page. The "replace all" command in notepad is a good one; I should have thought of it earlier.
We might want to consider using another shade of red for the Stormheim units, or an altogether different colour. |
