TOPIC: Area.dat?
Area.dat? 11 years, 5 months ago #978
Hello, all.
I have a scenario called "Illuria" on my computer. When you right click the middle of nowhere, or have a battle outside a city, then a name pops up describing the location, such as "Kor" or "The wizards island" or something. I find this cool, and want something similar in a map I am making. I have found that the file that contains the data in question is called "Area.dat". Does anybody have any idea how to edit this? Has it been reverse engineered at all? I am a decent programmer. If somebody knows how to interpret this file, I might be able to make a utility to edit it. Otherwise, I might have to delve into it myself and see if I can reverse engineer it... |

Talonos,
Area.dat is created for you auto-magically by the scenario editor using the names of the cities. There is no need to hand create/edit it though I do have the code that interprets the file if you want to actually change it. But each time you edit your scenario you will have to regenerate it. KGB |
