TOPIC: Creating Custom Shields
Creating Custom Shields 10 years, 7 months ago #1166
I've been thinking of creating custom shields for my new campaign. How does one create custom shields?
Clearly there is a picture file with a name and a SHI file. But how does one correctly go about creating SHI files? |

shi file is a 50 bytes binary file very most of its content is unused, you are interested only in a first byte. possible values: 0 - base (red, black etc) 1 - ordinary (stripes of different kinds and also the flame) 2 - charge (figures: dragons, lions etc) And what editor does one use to edit it? |

Any hex editor. There are plenty of those in the net for free. Personally I use the Notepad++ text editor program, with a hex editor plugin. Its very simple to locate and install this plugin, right from the plugins menu, iirc. Or if not, google it and follow instructions.
Ps Alternatively you can just copy another Shi file of the same type and rename it. E.g. you made a snake shield graphics and your file is named snake.pcx. Take a copy of the lion's Shi file and rename it to snake.shi. I think this should work.. |
