Let me invite you to my website, lastcitadel.ru.
Its Warlords Ladder provides a challenge system with email notifications and a ranking system. Account information includes challenges thrown to you and ongoing battles so far. You can accept or decline challenges and challenge other users as well. Your EMail isnt shown to opponent until a battle gets started (when you or your opponent accepts challenge). So dont be afraid about spam.

Although I spent a couple of days on testing, there could be unnoticed bugs. Please report here if you have revealed any.

Except the ladder, there is nothing more at the site now. Although I'm planning to develop it further. For example, in the nearest time a multi-user challenge will be introduced (games with more than 2 sides). Profiles, statistics, comments, etc - are the immediate tasks.

I'm also open to your suggestions. Please share your oppinions, what you like and what you dont like about the site, and what you would like to see.

Yeah I've started the work a couple of years ago.. but then there was a major break. Actually it has taken about a month or two. BTW I've chosen "the Last Citadel" name because even Warlorders.com was dead at the moment.

Oh I remember. We were talking about it... 5 years ago =). I thought you were lost like Axl Dead (master of Warlords Universal).

Nice! It's great to have an actual PBEM ladder/challenge area for players who are interested in playing to find games. Much easier than posting here in the PBEM forum.

This will be my first time playing pbem vs people that have done it more than me. I'm used to playing hotseat with my friends. I always lose, but this game is fun anyway!

The reason why I make this post is because I have a few suggestions. They might be a bit over the top, but I guess if you are able to do it it should be considered.

At the moment I can only view ongoing games. There should be a possibility to view the history of finished games. Which leads me to thinking that maybe it would be possible to record more information about the games played. Maybe keep track of used armies and what settings the games were played under. I have a feeling that lastcitadel.ru won't be swarmed by new players so I guess it will be way too much work for too little return to do something like that.
