TOPIC: Heroes dropped into water during flight
Heroes dropped into water during flight 13 years, 5 months ago #304
Hi all,
When a hero is dropped into the water during flight - does that warrant a reload? I recall it happening in a one-on-one pbem game a long time ago. I'm not sure if it happened to me or my opponent, but we both agreed that it would be best to do a reload. I'm a little torn on the issue. On one hand it seems realistic enough that flying is dangerous, and rearranging hero stacks in mid-flight does add some nerve to the game On the other hand it would be a great shame if a long and exciting game was decided by a main hero being accidentally dropped into the water. I'm leaning most towards allowing a reload in these situations, but how does everyone else feel? Regards Lars / Lord Snow |

Lord Snow,
Reload. I mean the manual states nothing about heroes accidentally drowning in such situations. Given that you may just want to cast teleport or re-arrange your fight order or add/remove units it's silly to have to worry whether a hero could accidentally kill himself. The original idea was meant so that if you killed an enemy heroes mount he would drown at the end of the turn (start of next turn). It's a quasi-bug that it gets checked in the middle of the turn instead of at the end. Incidentally, you can drown a hero over a swamp square too because the game considers that water for drowning purposes. KGB |

KGB,
Good to have that cleared up. I was not aware that you could drown in a swamp (in DLR that is ) - scary! You say that the original idea was that a hero would drown if his mount got killed, but isn't the mount always behind the hero during flight? (meaning that the hero would always die before the last flying unit in his stack) Lord Snow |
