TOPIC: No-cd-patch on win95?
No-cd-patch on win95? 13 years, 3 months ago #613
I was curious if anyone remembers a way to get DLR running without a CD on win95.(older patch maybe?) I've tried the 1.02 update and patch yet I still get a request for CD.
Patch works perfectly on other machines. reason for such 95 madness - I've been happily ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks, HatchFactory |

HatchFactory,
In fact the No-CD patch exists on this very site! Check the DLR downloads section. I had no idea you could run Dosbox on an Android cell phone! I have a Motorola Atrix and I'd be interested in the app and how to get it. Then knowing where you got the Win95 image (I didn't know Win95 could run in Dosbox, I would have thought you'd need a virtual machine for a Win95 image). KGB |

Mobile DLR
![]() The Atrix specs would surely be enough to run Warlords under emulation. Most people like aDOSBOX as it is free. androiddosbox.appspot.com IMHO anDOSBOX is much faster due to hacks the developer added. GPL uberfanboys hate it though as it is for sale. I am a happy customer and whilst I play warlords I consider my $3 well spent. sites.google.com/site/andosbox Both are available from the marketplace. You might also want to install flit keyboard with the special character plug if your current soft keyboard doesn't support the keys you need. DroidDOS looks promising, I have yet to play with it though. droiddos.blogspot.com/ I had to fiddle around a bit with the dosbox.conf files to get things running decently. Sound seems take up more resources than its worth so I turn that off too. Playing an mp3 in the background works great if you need music. (but if your playing warlords at work sound is highly overrated) Heres a guide for creating and running win95, I believe you can also run 98, ME and possibly 2000. vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=17324 Or if you already have a Holo win95 disk PM me and I could help you find a back-up ![]() |

How do you install the DLR? Have you tried to install it on your PC, then patch it and then upload to your cell phone?
If it won't help, I can send you old DLR versions from Warlords Universal. |

Victory!
After copying over a pre patched portable DLR, I found I still had some DirectX bugs to iron out, and DLR insists that I need a sound card running, I've got DLR running smoothly in DOSbox on my computer. A couple more quirks (I've had to enable sound emulation which has slowed things down a bit) and I'm up and running on my android HTC G2. I'll see if I can speed things up bit by messing about with settings, find a way to turn the sound emulation back off, but I have my first game started. I am curious to test how it runs on other machines as I believe DOSbox has been ported to quite a few devices (Iphone/Ipad, PSP etc.) Much thanks for your help ![]() |
