I need the default DLR 'Armies'/sides. .. 5 years, 9 months ago #3599
Hello,
Ok let me explain this. The current version of W3:DLR I am using is the one from the 'Download old games' site I linked to in another thread. This version works very well. It allows access to all the folders etc. The problem with this version is that it does not contain the default sides (such as the Dwarves, Imperial Knights, etc.) so that in order to play I will have to try to re-create all of the default sides so that I can play random maps (which is pretty much all I play anymore). Does anyone here know of a way I can download the default sides (or even the default 'Army' folder)? |

SkeleTony,
What folders and files do you have under DLR? The default 8 sides should be under a folder called CPGS and are called <name>.PGS. Individual scenarios and campaigns have their default sides included in the scenario/campaign folder in a file called SIDES.DAT For random map creation the sides are in RANDOM/Grass/Sides(0-7).dat KGB |

I have all those files but can not edit them. If I click the button to edit, say the Selentines it only lists the one custom side I whipped up.

Ah, you mean the edit button in the DLR game itself.
That only edits your personal PGS files that are located in the PGS folder. If you want to edit the other ones you have to manually copy them to the PGS folder then you can edit them. After that copy them back into the CPGS folder. The original game never let you change the default sides. In fact if you are going to be playing random map games then even editing those PGS files in the CPGS folder won't help because the game uses the sides(0-7).dat file to generate the default sides for the random maps. To edit those sides().dat files you have to use the scenario editor and create a new scenario, edit the 8 sides to the way you want them and then copy the sides.dat from your new scenario back over the sides(0-7).dat file. Hmmm...maybe I am just 'mis-remembering' things. I could have sworn that I was able to edit them in game because I thought I had changed the default sides before to fix some issue or the other that I had. Been so long since I have played that I am probably just confused altogether.

Maybe you just created your own custom sides for the Selentines etc and just loaded them for each of the AI sides.
The other possibility is that you did indeed change the 8 default random map setups. That would have required a custom editor or using the scenario editor as I mentioned and swapping them manually. It's worth doing this if you want the AI to use the KHeroes/Stormheim units and for the random maps to contain Stormheim units. KGB |
