You really can play even without virtual machine. Just play it through a shortcut for warlords.exe and add "/wincursor" to the path in its properties. Most times this solves the problem.
Always good to see new players. |

other fans do exist. myself included. i have frequented your website for the past 2-3 years, and yes the wincursor fix does work.
but for me what sucks is the lack of sound... i'll be honest.... i loved the music. is probably my favorite track.... it was so ominous... every single time that song played.. i was attacked.. or on my way to getting attacked. ... yet i like the song -.- anyways. just wanted to say thanks to you guys for keeping the community alive. more will come in other news... i'm considering playing but... i haven't played.. for a while... and i've never used to storm heim thing... ? stormheim? that's what its called yes? i was thinking to try baiting earendil into a game. he may not kick my ass too too badly ^.^ (ps- sorry if posting links isn;t accepted by u guys... some forums are ...iffy... about such things.) |

Every few years I install WL3:DLR from my CD, and with every new Windows install it gets harder and harder to run. I would *love* a virtual machine (in my fantasy world, a Wine setup) which would obviate this pain.

Hello, after 8 years i have finaly tried Warlords again, but since my disk is broken i decided that this VM would be allot more usefull since i dont have to get it to work on Windows 7.
Now i would like to play it LAN against my brother but i have been unable to get the VM's to interact with eachother. First of all, i am not even sure if it is possible to get it to work LAN like this. but if it is possible is there anyone who could help me out? So far i have: Enabled NIC for both vm's (they had connection to the internet before i gave them manual IP's) Changed one of the VM name's so they dont conflict. Changed the IP of one Virtuabox so they dont have the same IP either. The 2 host pc's can ping eachother. The VM's can only ping themselves. Host PC1: 192.168.0.102 VirtualBox adapter PC1: 192.168.56.1 VM PC1: 192.168.56.11 Host PC2: 192.168.0.100 VirtualBox adapter PC2: 192.168.56.2 VM PC2: 192.168.56.12 I hope this information is enough for people to see what is wrong. Please understand that i am not a computer wizard. Also, english is not my first language so if anything is unclear feel free to ask. Jobje |

If the 2 VM's can ping then you should be able to play against each other on your LAN. Make sure that the Windows firewall is off in your VM's. Not sure if you need it off in the host machine. To test do the following in one of your VM's. 1) Start the game and host an IP game. 2) Minimize that game (if it's windowed you don't need to minimize) 3) ON THE SAME VM start the game a 2nd time. This time connect to an IP game and enter the IP address of the VM (192.168.56.X). 4) If you can connect 2 games on the same machine then you'll be able to connect from the other VM since they can ping each other. If you can't connect 2 games on same machine then a firewall is blocking things (on the VM and/or host PC). KGB |

Disabled both the Host and VM firewalls. Changed the Subnets so that both VirtualBox and Host PC are in the .0 network. Host PC and corresponding VM's can ping eachother. Both Host PC's can ping eachother the VM from host 2 can ping host1, but the VM from host1 cannot ping host2. not sure why they have almost iddentical setups. Host2 can ping both vm's but Host1 cannot ping VM2. Due to that it seems they still wont connect. Not sure how to fix this, i will keep trying some changes but any tips are more then welcome. |
