TOPIC: Siege and vsCity abilities
Siege and vsCity abilities 7 years, 1 month ago #1601
I'm not sure I tell the difference. Don't these abilities double each other?

I assume by vsCity you mean the unit bonus that is listed as '+X vs City'.
The 2 bonus's are not related in any way: Siege cancels out Fortify (Fortify is the bonus the city walls give plus some units/items/spells give it too). It applies to all the units in the stack. +X vs City is an individual bonus that only applies to that unit when combat takes place in a city (including razed ones). It can't be canceled. KGB |

Thanks for a clarification, I just couldn't get this info from any sources about unit abilities in W3DLR. And it couldn't be known from gameplay itself (at least as for Siege).
So it seems Siege value more than +3 would be rather superfluous in most cases. And if Siege applies to all units in the stack, what shall happen if a unit with Siege ability dies in battle? Shall all other units still have Siege effect active during this battle (if battle occurs in city)? |

If you look at the stats page here on this site for the units anything listed under C.Bonus applies only to that unit. Actually +4 is the magic number because you can give the entire enemy stack a -1 combat if your siege exceeds their fortify. +5 Siege is only needed in rare cases that a hero / unit with Fortify +2 is defending in a city with +3 walls. The same goes for Leadership/Chaos and Morale/Fear. All 3 range from +5 to -1 for an overall value of +5 to -3 (assuming -1 in all 3 bonus groups). DLR (and War1 & War2) bonus's are only calculated once at the start of the battle. They apply for the entire battle regardless of what dies. Warlords 4 changed this when it went to tactical combat. Well, I meant I couldn't get any clear description what exactly some abilities do. KGB wrote: It remains for the entire battle. Warlords 4 is much more convenient and clearer in all that regards to description of what works and how it works . Thanks to your help system, almost everything can be known without exiting the game and consulting the Tomes of Knowledge(tm) Oh, I know, I know, 'it's old-school, baby' with all its DIY-approach, and it's cool... to some extent, when one realizes that Tomes of Knowledge(tm) often miss a lot of important info |
