TOPIC: Warlords 5 should be multi-platform
Warlords 5 should be multi-platform 13 years, 2 months ago #19
With technology the way it is, I'm sure Warlords 5 could be made into an iphone ap, facebook app, xbox360 or PS3 game, or etc. The email turnbased function of the older Warlords games would really benefit us (the old timers) in that if Infinite Interactive make the game correct we'll benefit by thousands (maybe millions) of new gamers.
Imagine being about to play on your phone, move your units, strengthen your keep, and email/text send to the gamer you're playing against. This would really come in handy if somehow an Xbox360 gamer could play against a PC gamer. I could only imagine the havoc that some of us could wreck on a teenager who has no strategic ability. P.s. 1st post in new thread. |

there's no need in emailing for modern games
Game state can be stored on a server like in Warbarons |

Molotov,
The problem then is you are hostage to the server. If it goes away so do the games. This happened with ROZ (the DLR online server) forcing the creation of BattleHQ. So while I like the Warbarons model I don't think it should be the only model and that pure PBEM games should still exist or else players need the ability to create their own servers. KGB |

Here's an interesting read, just an article i ran across, it's 2 days old, but gives some perspective, on a gaming publisher's hard choices.

It's true there's money to be made with video gaming console's is such a booming product, just look at the recent thing going on with Netflix raising their price, that mabey the need to mail and replace lost cd's are going to become obsolite. The World purchased 193.9M Wii, Xbox360, and PS3's gaming console's, with America being about half that total. Source: www.vgchartz.com/#Americas With America having 94.6 Million, if half of the video gaming console's owners subscribed to Netflix download, for let's say $10/month, that = 473 Million Dollars a month. Why wouldn't they do it, I know they don't get True Blood on HBO, but, hey, they can most likely get the old seasons, and with mid sized towns in America having 60Mb download speeds, it's the future.
