Warlorders, bad news...

As you know, this site has been around for the better part of something like 12 years. Originally Wooger hosted this site on an old Linux box in his basement. But as technology marched onward and bandwidth started to creep upward (such is the price of fame! Hehe), Woog decided to move the site onto a hosting service. He successfully navigated the transfer with a minimum amount of disruption and loss of data, and it was wonderful.

UNTIL...

As you all have probably noticed, Wooger have not been around a lot for the past few years. For personal reasons, he decided to transfer the website over to the man who was actually doing the most work and, in his humble opinion, actually "owned" the site: KGB. KGB was the reason that Warlorders has stayed relevant for all of these years. Without his presence and attention, the site would have faded into obscurity many years gone by. SO... it only stood to reason that he should turn the reins over to him and it would become KGB's baby.

December 1, 2010 KGB created an account on the hosting service (who shall remain nameless because we would get hit with a MAJOR slander lawsuit if we told you how we really felt about them right now!) and he started the "domain transfer" process. It seemed pretty straightforward ... We just wanted to give KGB all of the legal rights to the name "warlorders.com" and turn everything over to him. Sounds pretty straightforward, right? It must happen thousands of times every day? Well, apparently, domain transfer actually means: KGB gets the name "warlorders.com" and, when Wooger ceased to own the name, the hosting service just deleted everything and washed their hands of it... EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD STILL BE HOSTED ON THEIR SERVERS! Just by KGB, not Woog!

*sigh*

So, long story... a bit less long: Everything was deleted. Wooger did NOT perform a backup prior (Hell, he thought he was just turning the keys to the house over to KGB, not burning the goddamned thing down!)...

KGB and Wooger are now in the process of rebuilding and seeing what can be salvaged from the ashes. KGB has MOST of the download files (my 2nd biggest concern). However, our biggest loss would have to be: 12 years of forum posts. This was kept in a MySQL database on the hosting site, also destroyed in the transfer process.

So... please be patient while KGB and Woog try to recover from this crash and burn. No, it won't ever be the same. Yes, it (SHOULD BE) back. Eventually. Just check back now and again and we will try and keep you posted. Maybe we will post an e-mail account here for you to mail us with any thoughts or concerns, but... that will have to be later. Right now we are busy just sifting through backups and trying to find something to restore.

And if you are here and reading this, thanks for being a loyal guest of the website. We truly appreciate your patronage and we are working as quickly as possible to get you back and 'Warlording' as quickly as possible!

P.S.  Thanks to all the Warlords who keep sending email about the Wayback machine (Archive.org). I went there first thing and scraped off the Stats pages but the forums aren't backed up because the MySQL database was internal to the site and not accessible publicly so there was no way for it to be archived by this site.
